pastels & patternsSpring is here! The time has come to break out the tennis rackets and croquet mallets and, of course, your spring wardrobe. Bickering Ivy has developed just a few notes to consider when picking out your outfit for next week’s barbecue.

Pastels – Soft colours, besides being the colours of the leisure class and a preppy staple, are ‘in’ this year. From soft pinks to baby blues to pale yellows, pastels will keep your spring wardrobe bright, cheerful, and preppy.

Patterns – While colours are being worn subtly, patterns are bold this spring. Yet another area of prep expertise (prep-pertise?), patterns and motifs can make an outfit pop. From traditional plaids, stripes, and polka dots to printed motifs like hounds or even rocket popsicles (Land’s End) and embroidered tennis rackets, patterns are the sign of a true prep. If you’re feeling extra bold, try a floral pattern; floral button-ups are popular on gents this spring.
